Using the same technology employed by NASA to detect gravitational waves, Fence Lite uses the most sensitive vibration detection technology known to science, using light for analysis at record speed, and a special algorithm for signal filtering. This allows the solution to transform a fiber optic cable into a distributed sensor, and any perimeter into a high security barrier.

Each controller device has 4 completely individual physical zones, which can be configured according to the perimeter where it will be installed. Each zone is divided into 2 distinct parts: non-sensitive segment (up to 5km) and sensitive segment (up to 1km) which allows monitoring distant locations, without the need to install the controller in the field. A single piece of equipment can protect up to 4km of perimeter.

Fence Lite® has SC/APC connectors and uses – exclusively – optical cords with SC/APC connectors (Market Standard) for connection with the fiber optic cable used. Fusions in the fiber optic cable must be performed by machines with core alignment, and several mergers can be performed in the same optical segment without any type of damage to the performance of the equipment.

The Non-Sensitive Segment, known in English as LEAD-IN, is present in each zone. This segment uses a single fiber optic cable (1fo) and can be up to 5km in length, connecting the zone from the controlling equipment (usually protected in a secure room) to the desired start location for the zone. It is called “non-sensitive” because it ignores any type of vibration, serving to isolate different zones even if they are installed linearly, using several routes of a single cable. Despite not having vibration sensitivity, if it is cut, the equipment will detect and immediately notify the cut of the affected area.

The Sensitive Segment is the detection zone itself, and can have up to 1km of sensitive fiber (individual for each zone). It runs through the entire area of interest in a linear fashion, without having to form a loop, as the cable does not need to return to the equipment. The start and end of a sensitive zone are physically demarcated using the start and end zone elements (included with the equipment). This segment uses 2 optical fibers (2fo) for vibration detection.

The optical fiber cable used is a single-mode cable, with a G652D or G657 (BLI) standard core that is widely available on the market. The sensitive segment requires that the cable has some characteristics approved by Alfa Sense, and it is possible to acquire it through its traditional distribution channel. In non-sensitive segments (LEAD-IN) it is possible to use a single-mode cable that already exists on site, which facilitates and speeds up installation in locations that already have optical fiber available. The Installation can use cables with extra fiber ways and the additional ways can be used for data transmission, voice, camera images and others, without any kind of problem.

The Equipment has for each zone: 1 Intrusion Alarm Relay, 1 Fiber Cutting Alarm Relay, 1 Zone Suppression / Bypass Relay (for integration with access controls). Relay interfaces can switch up to 125v/2A and be used for any type of integration or automation. For communication, the equipment uses a standard RJ45 network interface, using TCP/IP natively and has a web-based configuration and operation interface.

The Fence Lite® has an external AC/DC bivolt source (100-240V @ 50-60Hz) with a DC output of 19V. The Fence Lite's consumption is low (less than 6W/h) and the Equipment is prepared to be installed in remote locations, compatible with battery power and/or solar panels through a special source that can be requested for your convenience.

The Fence Lite® Integration System was designed to be fast and efficient. Through a web interface and REST requests (HTTP GET/POST calls) Fence Lite can be integrated with any type of software or device available on the market. For devices that do not support integration via REST(HTTP) a complete high-level integration can be performed using the available relays. This unique combination allows for integration with any type of Camera, VMS, PSIM, Access Control, Alarm Center, DVR, NVR, Spotlights, Sirens and any other necessary device.

Fence Lite® was designed to meet the most challenging scenarios, with high performance. For this, we have developed a Modular HW and SW architecture, which allows repairs and maintenance – if necessary – in record time, and the inclusion of functionalities quickly and efficiently, keeping your system always up to date. The electrical protection system used is a spectacle of its own: while most equipment only protects the power supply line, Fence Lite® employs the most advanced protection technology (high-speed sparking) also for the communication line (network), ensuring that you won't have problems with lightning strikes.
